"What forges great professional artists?"

That's the simple question we try to answer as we interview professional creators with careers in the Entertainment Industries. We post one interview per month. Extra materials, like Geek Talk about movies, comics, and games may be released any time of the month.

Episode 35 - Julee Fuller: Freelance Illustrator

Julee Fuller is an Athens-based freelance illustrator and concept artist. Originally from Indiana, she received a BFA in game art from the Art Institute of Atlanta. Since that time she has had a lot of ups and downs, but she's powered through it all. Jeremiah sat down with her to talk about some of her recent struggles and how she's gone about rebooting her creative career. The audio quality is not the best (_sorry about that, I'm, still learning! -JC_), but the conversation is chock full of honest talk about the trials and tribulations of what it means to pursue your passion despite setbacks (while still taking care of yourself). **[Julee's Portfolio](** - [Rook and Pawn (restaurant)]( - [Titanic 3D (movie)]( - [Art Institute of Atlanta]( - [SIEGE]( - [No, You Shut Up! - "...the door dings, and inside walks an officer who literally has his hand on his gun just looking at us... and clearly was not expecting us!" ~ Julee Fuller - Jeremiah: " when they did the re-release of the Titanic [movie] in 3D..." Julee: "...that was me [converting the 2D film to 3D]. A small portion of it. The intro submarine bit, and the scene where Jack is teaching Rose to spit off the side of the ship." Jeremiah: "Did you have to Rotoscope the spit [to convert it to 3D]?" Julee: "I did not, but somebody else [in our studio] did. So, yes, someone ACTUALLY rotoscoped the SPIT." - "I got my first big gig working for 'No, You Shut up Games'... on 'The Legends of Fu', which is an Adventure Time point-and-click adventure game for the iPhone." ~ Julee Fuller - “If you’re not happy with what you’re doing and it’s negatively affecting you to [an extreme degree] it’s okay take a risk and just get away.” ~ Julee Fuller
